Step-by-step process of creating Anime songs in Japan

In the process of creating Japanese Anime songs, there are several people who are getting involved in the whole process, for example, music composers, people from music agency or recording label, songwriters who has a responsibility to create the lyrics of the song, arranger and sound engineer who are supposed to arrange and improve the backtrack.

The whole process of creating Japanese Anime songs begins with a selection of melodies. At an early stage, there are piles of demo songs that are created by music composers. These demo songs are not done yet, they usually have a temporary vocal track at this stage. Once the music composer finished mixing a temporary vocal track and backtrack, they submit it to their music agency or client where the screening process occurs to pick a demo from the pile.

Now it’s time to select the lyrics. Songwriters start to write lyrics and submit them to the music agency or client when it’s done and people from client pick the best lyrics from the pile.

As the song and the lyrics are chosen from the competition, now it’s time for arrangers to improve backtracking. What arrangers and sound engineers have to do is to record individual tracks such as vocals, melodies, lyrics, backtracks…etc.

Once individual tracks are recorded successfully, sound engineers mix them up by using a effect plugin. After mixing, it’s time to shift to mastering. Mastering is the process that your music goes through before distribution. The purpose of mastering is to polish your mix to prepare it for distribution on CD, Vinyl, or the Internet by using mastering software.

That is a process that music creators follow to create Anime songs in Japan in most cases. In the next section, I’ll introduce you to some software synthesizer recommendations that Japanese professional music composers use. I hope you’ll find the best one from the list.
