Enka refers to songs influenced by Japanese traditional music, such as folk songs. It incorporates unique vocal techniques like kobushi that are characteristic of enka.
The lyrics often express emotions unique to the Japanese people, with themes such as duty, human kindness, romantic love, and the distinct characteristics of Japan’s regions.
