On March 10, 2025 (Monday), we participated in the “Jacob Koller Peace Concert for the Tokyo Air Raid” held at Tsukiji Honganji in Tokyo.
Through media, we have become accustomed to seeing the horrors of ongoing wars, but this peace concert and Jacob’s piano performance provided a powerful reminder to reflect on the importance of peace. It was truly a day that made us reconsider its significance.
The event was also featured on NHK WORLD JAPAN.
Recently, more of our students have shared that their family or friends live in or near conflict zones. For us, this is not just a distant issue. However, we have seen how students find motivation through taking lessons with a positive attitude and collaborating with one another. As a school, we will continue to do everything we can to support and encourage this.
The “Hibaku Piano” that Jacob Koller performed on was brought from Hiroshima and tuned in Tokyo by Mr. Yagawa of Yagawa Piano Studio.
Even within Japan, information about Hiroshima does not always reach urban areas. We hope this article helps raise awareness and allows more people to learn about its history.
