Tokyo Skytree
Tokyo Skytree is the world’s highest free-standing TV broadcasting tower with the height of 634m (2080ft).
You can enjoy the magnificent view of Tokyo from the observation deck at 350m (1148ft). You can also take a great picture of Tokyo Skytree from the ground floor.
It’s not easy to get the whole tower in a frame but I recommend you have a try!
At the foot of the tower stands a shopping center called “TOKYO SORAMACHI” with more than 300 shops and restaurants and the area is popular among locals and tourists.

Asakusa/Kaminarimon gate
Asakusa is the Tokyo’s old town district that you must see. You may have heard of “Kaminarimon gate” which is the landmark of Asakusa.
Behind the gate, you will find a street full of shops and various kinds of Japanese restaurants that serve tempura, soba, monjayaki, sukiyaki etc.
At the end of the street, you will find the Sensoji temle.
You can enjoy the life of Asakusa back in Edo period.

Ameyoko (Ameya-yokocho)
It is a shopping street that lies between Ueno and Okachimachi stations. It began life as a market shortly after World War II.
You will find 400 shops in 500m (1640ft) selling a wide variety of things – food, souvenirs, cosmetics, relatively in large quantities.
Ameyoko is recommended for gourmet as well.
It is a crowded landmark but you can avoid the crowds if you go in the morning on weekdays.
If you go by train, please make sure that you are choosing the right exit of the station since there are many exits in each station.

The Imperial Palace
The Imperial Residence – the residence of the Emperor and the Empress of Japan, the Imperial Palace where ceremonies are held, other Palaces and the Imperial Household Agency are within the premises of the Imperial Palace.
The five-kilometer walking passage which is in the outer gardens is the most popular jogging course in Tokyo.
If you are coming to Tokyo and need some exercise, it is highly recommended to jog around the Imperial Palace. It’s an easy course for beginners.

Kabukiza Theater
Kabukiza, which has been destroyed by fire and war and rebuilt a number of times, is the main theater for kabuki, one of Japan’s traditional performing arts.
B2 floor of the building, where you can enjoy dining and shopping, is conveniently located and is connected to Higashi-ginza station.
Each actor who appears on the stage is part of an acting family, with some families being prestigious.

Akihabara
Akihabara is an anime and otaku culture sanctuary in Japan.
Now, it is a town that is full of office buildings with IT companies but Akihabara used to be known as a place to buy electric appliances and it still is.
You can feel that unique atmosphere in anime shops and you can find maid cafes in Akihabara, too.

Yakatabune boat cruise
If you would like to have a special night in Tokyo, yakatabune boat cruise is recommended.
If you go to Odaiba area in the evening, you will see many yakatabune boats.
With these boats, you can enjoy Japanese food such as tempura and monjayaki while admiring beautiful Tokyo riverside views.

Mori building Digital Art Museum
It is a museum jointly operated by teamLab and Mori Building.
“Borderless” is the key word in this museum where artworks move between the rooms, sympathize with each other and sometimes mix into another art.
It is a very popular spot in Tokyo, especially among young people.

Meiji Shrine (Meiji Jingu)
This Shinto shrine, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020, was built in 1920 and the Meiji Emperor and his wife, Empress Shoken, are enshrined here.
The largest number of people (several million!) visit here as their first shrine/temple of the year.
In my personal opinion, Meiji Shrine is the number one power spot in Japan.
