Today, we’ll explain how to use GigaFile, a popular file-sharing service in Japan, to upload your music files, PDF scores, or other materials when sharing them with clients or collaborators.
This article focuses specifically on the uploading process. For instructions on how to download, please refer to [this article].
Step 1: Organize Your Files into a Folder

First, create an empty folder.
- On Windows: Right-click on the desktop → “New” → “Folder”
- On Mac: Right-click on the desktop → “New Folder”
Give your folder a name for easy identification. In this example, we’ve placed three demo songs into the folder.
Step 2: Compress the Folder into a Zip File

Next, compress the folder into a Zip file.
- On Windows: Right-click the folder → “Send to” → “Compressed (zipped) folder”
- On Mac: Right-click the folder → “Compress [folder name]”
You can double-click the created Zip file to check its contents before uploading.
Step 3: Upload the Zip File to GigaFile

Go to GigaFile and scroll down to the middle of the page.
Choose a retention period (保持期限変更/how long the file remains available).
It’s recommended to set a longer duration to prevent download issues and ensure a smoother exchange with the recipient.
Step 4: Generate and Share the URL

Once the upload is complete, a long URL will be generated. Copy this link and share it with the recipient.
Just to be safe, we recommend testing the link yourself to confirm the file can be downloaded properly.
